Soar above the plains of the Cultural Triangle at sunrise, and watch as a majestic landscape of vast plains – dotted with patches of jungle and the ruins of ancient cities – unfolds beneath you, glowing gold in the dawn light. At 5.30 am every morning, a giant Hot Air Balloon drifts up into the sky to kissing sunrise. As the fog unfolds in the forest, and the ribbons of sunlight dance on the rocks and ruins of the Cultural Triangle a brief safety briefing by the pilot as hot air fills the balloon, and you’re ready to go! The safety of the trash can enjoy the panoramic view of the cultural sites, the sunrise, and the strange bird that follows the shadow of the balloon across the sky. Within an hour, you will float gently on the Cultural Triangle. You will see Sigiriya lion rock on your left Kandalama and a little further away from the Golden Temple of Dambulla.
Duration: Approximately 1 hours
Meeting time: The balloon takes off at 6.00am. sharp and so you will be picked up from your hotel depending on the travel time
What to wear:
Light clothing, sunglasses, layers and comfortable shoes as you will be standing for the duration of the balloon ride for a hot air balloon
Suitable for children:
Under seven (7) years will not be allowed to take the balloon flight, and Children under 16 will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult during the course of their trip.
